AFTER the 2005 movie “The Great Raid,†the Philippines will be in the Hollywood radar again. Warner Bros. has optioned “In Harm’s Way,†the book by Douglas Stanton that chronicled the ordeal of about 900 sailors left floating in the shark-infested Philippine Sea after the U.S.S. Indianapolis was hit by a Japanese torpedo in 1945.
The sailors were finally rescued five days later, but only after the sharks and the sea had reduced the survivors to just 317 men.
